Weigl Publishers:A TOS Crew Review

Weigl Publishers

What could be better than a beautifully illustrated book?  A media-enhanced book from Weigl Publishers!   We have been exploring 3 titles from the 1,800 titles available in a wide variety of topics.  They are:
  • Glaciers from the series "Earth's Water" - grades 3rd-6th
  • A Lion's World from the “EyeDiscover" series - grades K-2nd
  • There Once Was a Cowpoke Who Swallowed an Ant a fiction story - for grades K-2nd
What is a "media-enhanced book", you may be asking.  It's a beautiful, full-color book with a special digital code included that unlocks a treasure box of extra multi-media content.  Audio, video, slideshows, weblinks and even extra activities to do.  Best of all,  this content is all your forever - no subscription required!

We accessed our books as downloadable PDF ebooks.  First, you go to website and after entering a code found in the beginning of the book and answering a security question, you have access to the book online, as well as all the extras.  These books are optimized to work on your tablet, whiteboard, or computer.  They are completely enthralling!  My testers loved exploring the books on our laptop with the PDF version.

A Lions WorldLet me introduce you to the books,  First, A Lion's World from the “EyeDiscover" series is perfect for  grades K-2nd.  This is a 24 page story.  This book is for your younger crowd, but it was so captivating, I couldn't put it down.  The reading level is perfect for beginning readers, and the book includes a page of common sight words (and the pages they are found on) that you can use to review with your reader. The media-enhancement allows you to actually hear the lion's roar and see them in their natural setting.  What a fun way to bring reading to life!

There Once Was a Cowpoke Who Swallowed an Ant

There Once Was a Cowpoke Who Swallowed an Ant is designed grades K-2nd.  This 32 page PDF is a fun rhyming story that gives the option to have it read to you, or to read along togther.

We loved this Texas themed retelling of the classic "old woman who swallowed a fly" story!
You can use this book to help with early reading skills. Simply click on words and hear them read aloud.
Adorable illustrations make this book one of our family favorites.

Glaciers Earths Water
Glaciers from the series "Earth's Water" is for grades 3rd-6th.  This 23 page book is a fact-filled look at glaciers (warning - it's not written from a Biblical worldview, but it does have excellent information).

This book uses the Lightbox website.  After entering the access code, and answering a security code - you are taken to a page where you can see all the pages of the book, and easily navigate to where you want.

This book was our favorite!  Each page contains icons you can click on and be taken to additional content. Some fun activities included, discovering the world of polar bears, multiple interactive worksheets to complete, watching  slideshows and videos, and even completing a glacier quiz.  The book included hands-on activities to try as well.  This is a wonderful addition to your science study!

These books take reading to a whole new experience!  With the multitude of titles to choose from, you can find topics everyone will want to read.   They are easy to use, and very engaging.  Be sure to check these out!
