Pursued to Eternity by John Riley: A TOS Crew Review

Pursued to Eternity by John Riley

Pursued to Eternity by John Riley

Stories are some my favorite way to escape, and to learn. Pursued to Eternity by John Riley is a great way to do both!

This short fiction book is a 17 chapter journey through time introducing the reader to the God of history and exploring the creation versus evolution debate.

The story follows the journey of two brothers - one a Christian, biology teacher and the other an Atheist geologist.

It's an easy to read book, once I started it was hard to put down.  The beginning chapters are set in a different time era, so it makes a fascinating trip through history as well.  The first chapter begins the story with a suspenseful dinosaur hunt.  Throughout the story, you'll travel to Egypt, visit modern American classrooms, and travel to archeological digs in Kenya.

All throughout this book, John Riley has woven Scripture, fascinating historical and archeological facts, scientific discoveries and plenty of great apologetics to help bring understanding to the creation versus evolution debate.

The author, John Riley, has a Master of Science degree and has worked thirty-five years as an engineer. During retirement, he and his wife, Nancy, have taught physics, robotics, SAT prep classes and an Apologetics: Creation vs. Evolution course on SchoolhouseTeachers.com. It's a 14 week, video-based course geared for 7-12th grade.

This story was an engaging quick read, but would also make a great introduction for students interested in apologetics and creation vs. evolution.  One chapter includes 68 key questions that can be researched to help students understand why they can believe in the Biblical creation account.  This would make an excellent, in-depth study for anyone!

The final chapters tie the early chapters together with the discoveries of archeological artifacts and show God's pursuit of man as the atheist brother comes to faith.

More Animals for India!

My sweet daughters' good friend went to India on a mission trip.

As soon as they heard about her trip, they went into high gear creating their very own, custom, felt animals for her to take with and give to children she will visit in the slums.

They hand sew them, and hand create them.  They are filled with love and prayers too!  They made 30 of them in just a matter of weeks...

I am so proud of their missionary hearts.  They are doing what they can, right where they are with what they have...couldn't we all take a lesson from them?!

The Whole World Needs Jesus: A Review for YOU!

The Whole World Needs Jesus

This is a beautiful book that I can NOT wait to share with you!  It is designed for ages 4-8, but all my children have enjoyed it.

This delightfully illustrated book is written by Ann Dunagan, with illustrations by Caela Rose Dunagan (her daughter).  I am a huge fan of this family!

If you want to learn more about their ministry - visit MissionMindedFamilies.org.  They have been inspiring and equipping families to embrace God's call to the world. They offer resources, books and training to help you raise a "mission minded family."

This read aloud book is for the entire family.  The rhyming text tells the story of God's love for the whole world.  It encourages us to embrace our differences and hear God's call to GO.  The book makes the perfect encouragement for children to see people's differences - like where we live, or what we eat as something we can celebrate and embrace.  I love how this book introduces even young children to the BIG picture of God's Great Commission.

My heart's desire is for my children to have the heart of God.  This is one of those books that helps build that vision in your children from an early age.

This is would make a great Christmas gift both for you and a favorite missionary you may know.

Excellent resource you don't want to miss!  Let me leave you with my favorite Dunagan quote:

"You can only export what you grow at home"

Being Wrecked...

Last summer I read this book - Kisses From Katie, by Katie Davis.

I have to say, it wrecked me.  How can I want a "normal, American life" for my children after reading what this amazing young woman has done?

I don't want them to be anywhere but in the center of God's will for them.  Even if that takes them around the world, to places I've never even dreamed about.

I want to share this short video with you,  you'll see what I mean!

It may take place in a foreign land or it may take place in your backyard, but I believe that we were each created to change the world for someone. To serve someone. To love someone the way Christ first loved us, to spread His light. This is the dream, and it is possible.”  Katie Davis

I hope this inspires you as much as it has me.  I can't wait to share more of what I'm planning for my daughters this upcoming season...  you'll have to stay tuned!  (here's a hint...
