Bible Breakdowns from Teach Sunday School

Bible Breakdowns are a great tool to add to your Bible study tool chest!  They are one of hundreds of 

Printable Bible Lesson Plans, Study Materials, & Activities That Make God's Word Come Alive for Kids, Teens, & Adults from Teach Sunday School (a family favorite!)

They come as 2 PDFs - Old Testament and New Testament,  that you can download and print as many times as you need.  Each PDF contains a hyperlinked Table of Contents (no scrolling to find the book) and a one page summary of each book in the Bible (except Matthew... it's so jam packed that it gets two pages).  A quick glance tells you the Name of the book, the number it is in the Bible, and OT or NT.  I love how these breakdowns are easy-to-read and concise!

The focus of each of these one page summaries is to help you put the Bible into proper context. 

Each summary has a brief written description of the book with interesting facts followed by a handy guide to 

• Number of Chapters
• Type of Writing - ie History, Gospel, Pentateuch, Synoptic
• Date Written
• Time Period Covered
• Author

The "Breakdown" section highlights the Chapter/Verses and Subject - making it easy to see the content of a book of the Bible at just a quick glance. 

 "Classic Bible Stories" are highlighted in Blue text, making them stand out.  A light shading makes the lines easy to see, and provides a handy check box.

A bottom section contains "Most Popular Verses" and a Rank. This is a great place to start with Bible Memory!

Bible Breakdowns are a great tool, with so many ways you can use them!  I've printed ours and keep them handy near my Bible to use as an overview when I'm doing my personal Bible study and reading.  My kiddos each have a copy for them as well.

Activity-Pak: The Old Testament from Home School in the Woods

One of may favorite ways to study history is ANYTHING from  Home School in the Woods!  This time we got to take a peek at Activity-Pak: The Old Testament from Home School in the Woods.

This is an activity packed trip through the Old Testament with 15 different lap booking activities, recipes, creative writing, and a study of Proverbs for your students in grades 3 - 8.

Here's a quick peek at the Activity-Pak studies:

The Activity-Pak is available as a PDF download (or CD) that you print at home.  All you need is paper, ink, glue and a couple of file folders to get started!

The Lapbook activities are some of our favorite. 15 different mini-books are included covering the topics of : 

• Creation

• From Adam to Joseph
• Noah & the Flood
• The Tower of Babel
• Abraham, Sarah, & Isaac
• Sodom & Gomorrah

 Once you have it downloaded, you start at the Menu and print what you need. 

The handy "start" screen makes it easy for you to find each component and instructions.  I love how easy these studies are to use!

Full color, detailed instructions with photographs are included to make it simple to complete, even if you are new to lap booking.

One thing we love about lap booking, is that you get a nice, finished keepsake of your study that you can come back to later.

The lap book activities are all varied, and even include some yummy Old Testament Recipes!

We have done many other history studies from  Home School in the Woods, one thing that makes this one different is that it doesn't contain the history lesson text and reading portions.  It makes this a great add-on to your studies, or even a fun summer Bible study project to complete together.

In addition to the lap book the Activity-Pak contains a fun creative writing Newspaper project.  It contains 19 different "article" titles for you to write about, illustrate and show off.  We can't wait to get started on this section!

And... there's more..  A section on Proverbs to illustrate - with a choice of lined copywork, or handwriting practice is included with 25 key Proverbs to study and memorize together.

Wise Up from Positive Action Bible Curriculum

I am excited to share a new Bible Study - Wise Up from Positive Action Bible Curriculum.  This is a comprehensive study on the book of Proverbs for your middle grade (6-8th) children.

It comes with both a softcover Student Manual and a 3 Ring Binder Teacher Manual.  It is broken into 35 lessons.  The aim of this curriculum is to create a "God Focus" in your children as you teach them to discern between wisdom and knowledge from the ultimate book of wisdom - Proverbs.

The Teacher's Manual includes a handy chart to help you schedule lessons on either a 3, 4, or 5 day schedule, making it a full year study!

This course is designed to have parents and students working together, the relationship and discussion times are a key component! The Teacher's Manual is an absolute must have for this study.  It clearly details each lesson with:

• Target Truths - a quick bullet pointed outline of the lesson

• Teaching Strategy - a more in depth summary of the key points from each lesson and ideas for group activities

• Additional Suggestions - discussion ideas and activities to reinforce the lesson

• A Teacher's Lesson  - the lecture material you need to teach the lesson, or helpful group activity suggestions

• Full Answer Key -  this is the Student Manual and all the exercises, with answers included

• Quizzes & Answers - weekly quizzes and answer keys

• Scripture Memorization Sheet

I love how everything is clearly explained, and put together.  It's a very well-designed and easy to use program.  I also appreciate that it's a study for both parents and students to complete together.  When we model loving the Word and spending daily time in it, our students will too.

The Student Manual is a consumable, soft cover book.  Students complete fill-in-the-blank style questions, cross-reference reading, completing charts and other activities in each lesson.

The Student Manual is illustrated with pencil type drawings and is the perfect size to keep handy for daily use. My testers thought it is very classy and nice looking, and were excited to do their best work.

The end of each lesson includes a fill-in-the-blank section for the student to take notes from the Teacher's Lesson.

I was very impressed with the in-depth study for my middle schoolers, I think it could easily be adapted to use with both older students, or as a group study!

 

Now is the perfect opportunity to teach them true wisdom!

Faith Journeys Bible Study Series: Romans bundle & Faith Journeys Bible Study Series: Philippians  from Julie Naturally

I have been exploring the Faith Journeys Bible Study Series: Romans bundle & Faith Journeys Bible Study Series: Philippians  from Julie Naturally  as part of my daily quiet times.

Both of these studies come as digital downloads that you can print.  Each of them are appropriate for older teens and moms to work on separately, or together.

The studies include:

• Short scripture reading assignments
• 3-5 Questions to discuss or think about
• Bible Verse Cards to Print
• Coloring Pages
• Audio/Video components to access online

 Faith Journeys Bible Study Series: Philippians  is a 4 week long study.  Each week includes 6 daily assignments that are expected to take about 15-20 minutes, making it a great way to jumpstart your day.

Instead of printing off the pages, I used them digitally.  I love having a guided approach to my Bible reading and this study provided a great outline to follow.

I felt that the questions were broad enough to make good discussion topics, rather that personal journaling questions.

In addition to the daily reading and questions, this study has some printable memory cards that you can cut and hang to help aid you in memorizing scriptures (one of my favorites!) and coloring pages that you can print as well.  My girls loved the coloring pages!

 

Faith Journeys Bible Study Series: Romans bundle  is an 8 week study that follows the same general outline but focuses on Paul's letter to the Romans but also includes access to online videos from your Member Dashboard.  The videos are short and feature Julie, the author.  They are more of an add-on than an essential part of the study and could use some professional touch ups. 

 

These are easy ways to bring some structure to your quiet time, I enjoyed having a reading "assignment" each day, and the memory cards and coloring pages are a nice touch.  My older teen daughters enjoyed them alongside me and the questions made great discussion starters.

 Each episode is a fascinating discussion that takes place in the studio.  We enjoy Dave Stott's sense of humor, and the friendly banter of the hosts.  The short videos (about 15 minutes each) are filled with full color pictures, slides, video clips on location (our favorite), maps, and artifacts detailing the world of archaeology and its importance to understanding the Bible and the ancient world.

Downloadable and printable PDF Worksheets are included for students to follow along.  Each worksheet contains a written section summarizing the video episode, Scripture readings, discussion questions, and suggested optional activities. Answer Keys are provided as well.  

Each online episode includes the video and an online summary with full color pictures discussing the impacts, technical aspects and more to uncover the world of archaeology.  

Following the Video Episode, "Dig Deeper" Articles are included for further investigation and research. These are internet linked to articles on the Drive Thru History® Adventures website and make a great addition to the study.

A downloadable poster of the Top 25 Bible Archaeology Discoveries is included. The discussion of these important finds is an excellent tool for helping defend the Bible with physical evidence.

This is a fascinating course, designed for students ages 10 and up.  A suggested schedule is included that shows how to use each episode for a week of study.  It would make an excellent supplement to your history studies, or even an addition to your family Bible study.

My son has always wanted to be an archaeologist and I have frequently said, "If I could redo my career... I would want to be a Biblical Archaeologist" - so, this was the perfect way for us to explore our interest together.

This course is very professionally produced, and packed with information that will both intrigue you and prepare you to defend your faith with evidence from archaeology.
