The Unbreakable Faith Course from Pilgrim's Rock, LLC: A TOS Crew Review

Disclaimer: I received a FREE copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way

The Unbreakable Faith Course from Pilgrim's Rock, LLC is a great resource for you and your high school students to study Apologetics together!

Why study apologetics?  It's essential for us to be able to answer the questions others have, especially those who are skeptics with confidence and grace. The Unbreakable Faith Course is designed to equip you to do that.

Unbreakable Faith is designed for students ages 15+, and can count for a full high school credit when completed. The course contains 2 paperback "textbooks" as well as a self-paced, 36 week online program.

The books, written by Craig Biehl PhD from Westminster Theological Seminary, provide a foundation for understanding apologetics, theology and why we believe what we do.

The Box - is an easy read.  It's a conversation between "Mr. A" and "Mr. C" that provides a peek into how to converse with an atheist or agnostic.

God the Reason - is a more in-depth look at the characteristics of God.

The Unbreakable Faith Course is broken into 6 parts.  Each part contains multiple short videos, about 10-15 minutes each.  The videos are very well done with excellent images and audio.  I've decided to work through the course myself, and then use the information to help teach apologetics to my students.

The course is well thought out, with a handy syllabus to guide you along the way with the required reading (I'm such a education nerd...I love syllabi!).  Each video must be watched, and the course worked through sequentially.  Subsequent videos "unlock" as you complete the prior.  At the end of each part, there is a timed quiz.  I like the format, it reminds me very much of college courses, and is a great way to introduce your students to this type of online learning. The author even schedules office hours (live video chats) for students to meet with him to answer questions.

The material is meaty and deep - it will definitely make you think and process what you believe.  With the reading and videos, this course also appeals to multiple learning styles.

It's imperative that we give our children tools they can use to understand and defend their faith.  I feel like I have had many years of apologetics, but I am still continuing to learn more about God and how to defend what I believe with this course!

Be sure to check it out!

The Unbreakable Faith Course {Pilgrim's Rock, LLC Reviews}

I love my Day Job!

Really... I love that I get to homeschool my children (and other children too!)

This year I get the honor of teaching Biology in our homeschool co-op.  It's such a gift to get to introduce these highschoolers to God's amazing creation.

It was Crayfish dissection day - I may be a tad more excited than them... it's my FAVORITE!

Here are the future, world-changing, biologists:

I can't resist showing you our handiwork (actually, God's handiwork) Simple creatures that are anything but simple... Isn't it amazing??

Seriously, homeschooling has been such a blast... who gets to spend their day doing this??

Let's Go Geography, Year 2 from Let's Go Geography: A TOS Crew Review

Let's Go Geography, Year 2 from Let's Go Geography

Buckle up!  It's time to go exploring Let's Go Geography, Year 2 from Let's Go Geography!  We love this easy-to-use online subscription designed for grades K-5.  We have been continuing our fun with Year 2 -North America, South America and Europe. The 2nd semester covers Africa, Asia, and Australia. Be sure to check out our Year 1 experiences here.  Let's Go Geography covers the USA region by region, with each year's program introducing 2-3 regions. The rest of the lessons take you to various countries around the globe!

This affordable subscription program comes with 2 year access to all lessons, or you can upgrade to Lifetime access if you prefer.  They currently offer a full 32 week curriculum for Year 1 and Year 2 and Year 3 is coming soon!  You can show your children around the world!

Here's a quick video to show you what's included and how it works:

I love how easy-to-use and flexible this program is!  Each year is broken down into 2 - 16 week semesters.  Each lesson is available as you login in a downloadable PDF.  All you do is open and go.  It's designed to appeal to all your learning styles too.

Each lesson can be completed in about a week, depending on your pacing.  Let's Go Geography makes a great supplement to your other subjects as well.  The lessons all include the same basic outline that includes map work, listening to music, a craft or coloring project, videos that take you exploring to see the location, games and printables.

It's nice to have the option to only have to print what you want!

All the links are accessed directly from the PDF.  I LOVE that they have taken the time to make sure these are quality videos for my children, and put them into a safe viewing mode (no YouTube ads or comments).

My testers love listening to the music and watching the videos - from songs to learn the continents to what it's like to climb giant redwood tress - the videos give them a real-life peek into different places.

We began Year 2 by learning about the continents and creating our very own "Travel Journal" with dividers.  This is a great reminder of what we have been learning and a place to store our maps and activities.

Each lesson includes learning about and coloring the flag. We like to color each location on our continent map as well.

Of course, my sweet girls LOVE the crafts and coloring!  Most of the projects are easy to do and require only common household supplies.  I love how we can use this program with multiple children and multiple ages!  The flexibility allows you to pick and choose what works best for your particular family.

In addition, several additional options are included in each lesson:

  • Book recommendations (you can find them at the local library)
  • Atlas reading from DK’s Geography of the World
  • Writing prompts and notebooking pages
  • Flag coloring pages for classroom use

I love teaching Geography classes in our homeschool co-op  and Let's Go Geography would be a great tool.

We have been impressed with this well-organized program and highly recommend it.  It's time to go exploring!

Double Blessing

I love watching my children pursue what they love.  One of those things has always been music in our home.

I love hearing her play. Investing in music has been a double blessing to us all!

Homegoing 2019

I'm a bit late on telling you about this...

My sweet girls are missing "Homecoming" celebrations - so, rather than miss out on a fun night of getting dressed up and going out - they created "HomeGoing 2019" (because doesn't it make more sense that way... they are "going" out, not "coming" home!)

Aren't they beautiful...

Sweet friendships, beautiful young women - inside and out!
