Art Field Trip

We love the San Antonio Museum of Art - and the FREE programs they offer to homeschool students!

They get to see art close up, learn from experts - and make art themselves.  What a wonderful way to learn.  We are studying Ancient history this year, so the Egyptian Tour was right up our alley... even if it was the first field trip with only HALF of my children...sniff, sniff.

But First, the "traditional" family photos...

They get this behavior from my husband's side...

They started by looking for and sketching symbols they saw in the exhibit.

They were excited to meet Sekhmet - an Egyptian goddess in their historical literature!

After a fabulous teaching time on the artifacts, they get to head to the classroom for the project.

Hieroglyphics on papyrus!  So cool - it completely cements the learning in an unforgettable way!

This museum is a TREASURE - make sure you take your kiddos as often as you can!

Our first field trip - LEGOS!

I love the flexibility of homeschooling...we get to go the mall - during the day, and do school!  Lego Americana exhibit.

We got to see amazing lego structures of iconic American monuments.  And, stop for Chick-fil-a too.

Aquarium Explorations

We just love the aquarium & zoo!  Isn't amazing how God shows off?!   The shapes, the colors, the designs of all his amazing creatures... Never fails to put me in a worship mode.

We decided to prolong our spring break and take our friends to our new favorite... the San Antonio Aquarium.  It's not the largest, but everything is interactive and you can feed the animals!

The rays are like shameless puppies begging...

The birds are crazy - the swarm all over you!  Josh did not get to feed the snake...

Yes,  we even fed the Caiman!

Family Fun at its Finest!

During our Christmas break,  we had plenty of much needed downtime.  We read books, did puzzles, had a super-mega Star Wars marathon.

After a week - we needed a change of scenery.  We decided to finally use the family pass to the San Antonio Aquarium.  I have NO IDEA why we waited so long!!  It was small, but completely interactive.

We touched the octopus - Yes, you get to touch!!

I absolutely love watching jellyfish in the black lighting.  They look magical!

Essie found a mermaid and a lizard!

We hand fed sting rays-

We tried to feed the sharks...they were too picky of eaters!

Maybe we should have fed them something a little more tasty....

The birds were the best - they were all over us...

We are already planning a return trip!!
