Pathway to Liberty Homeschool Curriculum - Pathway to Liberty's US History: A TOS Crew Review

Pathway to Liberty Homeschool Curriculum

Not just another history program!  Pathway to Liberty Homeschool Curriculum  is a full education in Bible, history, character, writing, vocabulary and geography, for multiple grade levels.   We have been looking over Pathway to Liberty's US History - Pathway to Liberty's History Curriculum, Year 3 of a 4 Year program.
  • Pathway to Liberty's Universal History
  • Pathway to Liberty's The Middle Ages
  • Pathway to Liberty's US History
  • Pathway to Liberty's World History

This curriculum is designed to work for all ages.  It is organized into 4 levels:
  • Level 1 - K-3rd  - Early elementary.
  • Level 2 - 4-6th - Application is introduced. Research skills are taught, with age-appropriate reading levels.
  • Level 3 - 7-9th - In-depth reasoning and writing is implemented, research skills are practiced.
  • Level 4 - 10-12th - College-prep, earning 1 credit of History, 1/2 credit of Bible, 1 – 1 1/2 credit of English.
This well-organized curriculum is easy to use. It is available in Physical or Digital form.  It is designed with a Single Teacher's Guide that coordinates to all levels.  Each level is written directly to the student.  I love that my entire family - grades 4-12 can be studying the same Bible, history, character, writing, vocabulary and geography together.  Our best days are when we can stay together, don't you agree?

In Year 3, the focus is on the founding principles of the United States. It covers the time from the early colonies to the Civil War.  We were blessed to review Levels 2-3-4.  Our set also included - The Chain of Liberty reader, and study guide, written by Jayme Maccullough.  This is used as required reader.

The curriculum is designed with 26 weeks, and 4 lessons per week, for a full year program.  In Year 3 - you will meet the people and principles that founded America.  From John Smith to Abraham Lincoln, your student will get an in-depth view.

The physical copies are heavy-duty, spiral bound workbooks.  The Student volumes are color-coded in red, while the Teacher Guide is blue.  I love spiral binding, it allows them to lay flat, just a small detail, but I do appreciate it.

Writing is a vital component to this program.  Writing assignments are clearly outlined.  Each level expands.  For instance, a Level 1 assignment may be 3-5 sentences, Level 2: 2-3 paragraphs, Level 3 :3-5 paragraphs and Level 4: 4-7 paragraphs.  You can pick and choose for your student as well.

I love how this curriculum makes us think!  It's much more than just another history workbook.  It's filled with great ideas that shape our children's worldview.  It is decidedly Christian, with Scripture as it's foundation.   This "Principle Reasoning Chart" breaks down the main principles covered in this year at a glance:  Individuality, Self-Government, Christian Character, Seed, Power & Form, Property and Union.  These principles built our country, and this curriculum introduces them to our students.

This curriculum follows an immersion approach where each week is an in-depth study that integrates a variety of lessons.  Videos, word studies, notebooks, and timelines are all used to make sure that every learning style is reached.

Several core books are required, including Noah Webster;s 1828 Dictionary and NIV Bible. Expanded reading suggestions are recommended (but not required).

Let me show you a peek inside....

This is a very comprehensive curriculum.  I love how well organized it is, it's perfect for multiple ages too.  You will want to check this one out!
